Heard what I hope was only a rumor on this one, what is going on here? If you heard what I heard then I'm being told it's not a rumor. No confirmation from Babe Ruth officials though.

All indications is that Hamburg 13 year olds had to forfeit there trip to State play in Lonoke.

What was the reason for the forfeit??? I always hate to hear this ESPECIALLY when the cause is a rule INTENTIONALLY broken by the ADULTS! I'm asking...I have NO CLUE why there was a frofeit!

I was told it was an ineligible player. One that was playing out of his district. Who it was and where he was from ,I don't know. All I know is when it comes tournament time you need to have your ducks in a row, i's dotted and t's crossed.

It apparently was an ineligible from Bastrop that had played in Dixie league in the past that ask to play here. His grandparents lived in Portland, so their address was used. I don't feel like that they were trying to stack a team, the player was an average ball player. They got turned in by someone that was mad at the coaches & had no feelings for the kids what-so-ever that had nothing to do with that team. I feel like it was an oversight on the coaches part and not intentional. Sure everyone likes to win, but you like you said Outlaw, you have got to have all your ducks in a row.

The rules state that a kid must play within the district he lives in and the districts are generally the same as the school districts. I know there were several kids from Crossett in the Hamburg School district that have to play in Crossett because they live in the Crossett district.

My guess on that was since Bastrop was Dixie, maybe it didn't matter since Hamburg was Babe Ruth. Just a guess. Pretty sure it wasn't intentional.
